This is why we can't have nice things
Some of you may have noticed that there has been a spate of vandalism very recently. A lot of images have been deleted, as well as all Comments and Forum posts.
As of this post there are 13,138 images in The /co/llection; there were 13,842 earlier today, and many were deleted prior to this.

Everyone is now a Regular Member. You can upload, but no longer delete things.

The following remain Admins, with full privileges, picked from the top ten taggers and image posters:
Blagarg
Crisis
Edfan32
ex8139
madadayo
Rawbin
Robin
sneakyonfoota
Solmez
the-collection
TheLHK

If any more mass deletions occur, then it will be one of those responsible.

Edit: added Blagarg to the Admin list.

Appreciate the effort. It just goes to show that if you give users too much power, someone's going to go rogue eventually. Here's hoping your privilege change fix stops the deletions.

Are new members automatically Regular Members or Admins, like before?

Any way to get those images back, short of finding them somewhere in the 4chan archives?

Anyone who joins is now a Regular Member.

I can't see any way to recover deleted images, comments or posts in the Admin section.

Darn. I'll see what I can get from archive.moe, but almost everything from before Sep 2014 got deleted. What are the odds that there's some .zip files with the thread images for the older threads, a la the old Adventure Time drawthreads.

Yes, I see every single pic of Hope Corgi I uploaded is gone.

Do I need to re-upload all of them?

And before I forget again, is mass uploading enabled? That would make this much faster.

Those AT drawthread archives were actually mine.

This is why I've kept a through backup of all /d/rawthreads on mega, but at least with them I learned to delete all the non-delivery posts before zipping them up.

It's up to you if you want to reupload them. I don't think we have mass uploading enabled.

Apparently it's not up to me since the booru is telling me the images already exist, and then then the "you can find them here" redirects me to the main gallery.

Pasting the pictures into Paint, or using Paint to resize them should fix it, but that can be rather time-consuming if you've got a lot of pictures to go through.

Yeah, I just uploaded them all to the /co/ wiki page for Hope Corgi.

If anyone remembers who drew what, feel free to edit some notes in under the pics.

It occurs to me now that every single pic I tagged with "gift_wrapped" is no longer tagged with "gift_wrapped" and there is no mention of any of them ever having been tagged with "gift_wrapped" in their tag histories.

Is this because of a roll back?

So it's happening again.

Is there any way to block tag editting? We could use this right now

I know you need an account to edit tags. I don't know if it's possible to make it so that only certain people can edit them.

I can see no way to remove the ability to edit tags from Regular Members.
Admins, however, can revert tags fairly easily.

Time to start dropping the banhammer.

Well it would be unfair to make it that members couldn't fix tags, otherwise it'd just put the job onto mods if someone uploaded something and forgot to put in whatever additional tags were needed. Though there probably could be some kind of limit installed that makes it so a person can't just remove a bunch of tags in a certain period of time.

Just popping in to say that some duplicate group settings have been locked, but posting will remain generally available like it previously was. Nothing dire went on, at least not like in the past, but this duplicate group seemed to be from when the owner was still kicking about, and it was redundant in name and function.

One other thing to mention about uploads, is the sourcing of /co/ related content made for /co/, and the practice of filling the “Source” space when posting. It can just be the name of the thread, if any of the archiving site don’t work, or you just don’t want to bothered with links. I mention this to avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings.

Also, I will try and visit the forum more often, at least checking-in when I upload stuff, since it has been a bit neglected. Thanks.

Registration has been reopened but new users (Regular Members) only have the privilege to delete their own posts. If vandalism starts occurring again somehow, registration will be closed again.
