Intention to take over /co/ booru
Per the instructions in https://forum.booru.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1146, as one of the oldest booru admins here I'm announcing my intention to take over the-collection.booru.org as site owner.

The original site owner (madadayo) hasn't been seen here or on social media since August 2016, and before he abandoned this booru he locked out new user registration which none of the existing admins have the privileges to unlock.

If there are no responses to this thread from madadayo or other unknown mods who may exist by two weeks from now (June 29 2020) showing their intent to resume their roles here, I will request that booru.org mod Kielan grant me site ownership so that I can share the mod role with more active members such as Blargarg.

Why you, though? Looks like you're also MIA at any given time. Why not make Blargarg be the owner? Or DBaru, or Giffer, or LHK, or even Solmez? Give that power to someone that's not seeking it like you. This all reads like you're too invested and we know how this particular 4chan booru has fared with people that are a bit too invested.

That's a fair question, so let me answer it.

First off, when I started here 9 years ago I uploaded thousands of images to the booru, many I'd collected over the years beforehand. The user who went rogue and deleted a substantial amount of the booru removed a large number of my posts which by that point I couldn't reupload due to HD failure. I pulled my weight and also established practices like parenting line art to colored/finished versions, multiple tagging conventions including aliasing popular Japanese booru terms to their English equivalents.

My "investment" is in having a more permanent home to /co/'s creative output past and present, considering how sites like dA and tumblr have come and gone and Twitter accounts get yeeted with no warning. For better or worse we're the most stable historical record.

Assuming I get the ownership I'll mod anyone in the top five contributors and at that point they can mod/admin anyone else. I'll reopen registration but uncheck "remove post" from the default user privileges to prevent another mass deletion by randos from happening again.

Why me? Because I've been trying to figure out how to get this transferred to someone for the last 3 years since madadayo disappeared with no contact info, and I took the initiative to find out what's involved. I've had practice running other boorus here so I know what's possible but honestly I don't want to "run" this one, I want it to be able to run itself more smoothly than it currently does. If I had any sinister agendas they wouldn't be much of a secret.

As long as Crisis checks in often enough to act on any issues that occur, I have no objection to them taking over, assuming they have any luck with the request. The fact that the ownership transfer request for the SU booru that they linked to hasn't gotten anywhere after nearly three months is concerning.

I've no objection, we just need SOMEONE running it.

It just come as a surprise that you come out of nowhere and are super invested in the ownership. Just look at the way you tag things. "Anvil"? "Phone"? This isn't e621. What are you going to do when you're the owner? Make everybody tag things like that, plus have them specify what kind of model the phone was? At least you took those tags out later, but still. In all "seriousness", though, I shitpost and make fun of you because it's my nature, but your whole wall of text there at least makes me not think you're some power-hungry loser, especially the part about self-sufficiency and the kicking you to the curb if you don't hold your end of the bargain. So I'm down.

If you'll allow another nit-pick to the future booru owner, or whatever, I wish more of you did that SOURCE thing where you put the archive links on deliveries that aren't from any of the Drawthreads? It's sometimes fun to go back and see what spawned a drawing that wasn't your regular, bland, drawthread request. At least for me.

If it was we'd have tags for the number of characters like 1girl. Also, investment being used as a pejorative makes no sense to me: I helped start this booru and if you don't like that I can't help you here.

I'm an admin here. Since 2012 I've had the ability to ban users, mass delete content, edit your forum posts and generally wreak havoc. I haven't. The most site owner will add to that is update the stylesheet, replace the generic counters on the home page and then modify user groups and their privs, so I can restore registration but this time uncheck "remove posts" from the default user group so we don't have another vandalism spree.

your whole wall of text there
OP is for the benefit of the booru.org mods in line with their guidelines for requesting ownership transfer. They only made those guidelines clear last year.

It's going to be okay.

*cracks knuckles*
Okay. I got the site people to give me access and like I said my first order of business is reopening registration, which I've done. I've tested this with a new account and the rule of thumb seems to be that anyone who's logged in has the permission to delete their *own* posts but no one else's which is fine with me.

As far as kicking up the permissions of the top posters here is concerned, it turns out there isn't any further I can promote Blargarg and Solmez beyond Administrator. I've added petitebrownpunk to the Administrators group and the next person after them hasn't uploaded since 2014. It also looks like I'm the only one who can assign users to groups (i.e. promote them) but I'm looking into that.

Next order of business is aesthetic stuff which I'll cover in another thread.
